Thus, densimetric analyses of clay and silt demonstrate the heterogeneity associated with organomineral complexes in soil, but do not show distinct and homogeneous pools of SOM with uniform chemical characteristics and biological turnover.

Applying the viscosity of pure water to a soil solution containing 50 g of clay per L will therefore cause a given particle size class to include 13% of particles larger than the stated size. T. Christensen viscosity of water may be significant during initial sedimentation cycles only because the concentration of small particles dereases rapidly during successive cycles. However, the results indicate that soil-to-water ratios should be kept as low as possible during sedimentation.
